28/08/2006 10:12:02

Scott Dixon's Indy car championship title hopes have suffered a massive blow this morning.

Dixon's finished 4th in the penultimate round at the Sonoma Speedway in California, after starting from pole. He had a terrible final pit stop which saw him lose the lead.

Marco Andretti has won the race.

Dixon remains fourth in the championship and has closed the gap on championship leader Helio Castroneves to 21 points. Castroneves has taken the lead from Sam Hornish Junior, by just one point with Dixon's teammate Dan Wheldon third, 19 points behind.

There is just one race remaining.
