Jessica has a night on the town
July 5, 2006

Jessica Simpson was at the centre of a nightclub fracas after bodyguards attacked a photographer for trying to snap the star.

The four burly men forcibly snatched the New York Daily News snapper's digital memory card during a tussle at the Pink Elephant Club in the Hamptons early on Sunday morning.

Onlookers claim the photographer screamed: "I'm a Daily News photographer, I'm not paparazzi. Leave me alone."

The Dukes Of Hazzard beauty was enjoying a girlie night out with her TV presenter pal, Star Jones, when John Roca asked security if he could take a few pictures.

Roca said: "As she turned around, I hit her with a volley of flashes. Before you could say Madonna four guys pounced on me."

"I'm shocked. These guys jumped on me like chicken on a June bug."

The bust-up turned nasty when Roca tried to hide his memory card in his trouser pocket and the bodyguards forcefully ripped his clothes trying to retrieve it.

A spokesperson for Jessica insists the incident had nothing to do with her security, saying it was club security acting on its own.

The club's owner, David Sarner, has also released a statement in support of his celebrity clientele.

He said: "It is club policy to have no outside photographers inside the Pink Elephant. Jessica was not even aware of the incident."

However, Roca has stood by his claim and filed a report with local police. - Bang Showbiz
