The life of a 28-year-old Indian-origin men living in Malaysia has been agonised just because he has a Chinese name.
Hawker Philip Choong Kim Hoong is unable to get a driving licence, could not open a bank account for the past 16 years and he can't even marry his girlfriend due to this confusion.
Choong said he was adopted at birth and his original birth certificate contained details of his adoptive parents.
But when he applied for MyKad at the age of 12, Malaysia's National Registration Department seized his birth certificate.
"A department officer told me that my birth certificate contained false information. After confiscating my birth certificate, the department gave me another copy but without any details of my adoptive parents," The Star Online quoted him, as saying.
"They did not even give me instructions on what I should do after that," he added.
Choong, who went to the department countless times to appeal and seek help but to no avail, is forced to accept meagre wages from employers due to identity crisis.
"They (officers) told me that's the way it was and that I should just accept it. I cannot even marry my girlfriend," he said. (ANI)

Or biz tender is done just bcuz of ur name, not the capability of the company that u later obtain the gov loan to renovate ur houses or buy a luxury car that result to abandon project that the gov need to rescue using the minority tax money.
Yes we minority need to be grateful for the above & many more. And now we need to be more grateful for u to torch the other places of worship so that u can monopolise everything.

Indian Chinese NameInstead of confiscating the Birth Certificate the National Registration Department should have devised a way to solve the problem. Government officials are paid their salaries by the Rakyaat. They must therefore serve the raayakt.
I suggest the matter be refeerred to the Minister in charge of the Public Complaints Bureau>Murugiah will solve it. |

Get a life people...The main problem is the fixation of 'Choong' being a Chinese name. Why the hell is there a classification of 'race' based on name? Why does a person have to be Chinese to have a 'Chinese' sounding name? Indian must have Ramasamy and A/L in their name? Fuck that!
I’m officially registered as Indian in M’sia, and I have a SURNAME, and NO 'A/L'. I’ve never had a problem with my name, probably because no one can make of a fully Christian name. Dear Choong just has to check with the registrar and date back to his birth registration. What was his given name back then. That is his name no matter what rubbish any officer wants to claim! He has his rights, just not using it! People can also change their names as my friend officially DID change her name when she was 22. Something about her name bringing her bad luck. This issue Choong is facing is ridiculous and is just not handled by the appropriate individuals of the department.
And to all the bullshit talk about majority and minority race, you people who argue about racial equality and racial rights are the main problem makers of racial tension in this otherwise beautiful country. Shut the fuck up and live! Not squabble over government policies when you obviously have no control over. If taking away benefits of someone else is not going to bring it to you, fight for it’s removal just wastes your time! If the Malays are no longer given 10% discount when buying houses, does it mean the other races get a different purchase? Think about that... |
