Barre, Vermont - August 23, 2006
Vermont singer Sherri Lamberton has been performing in Nashville for years.
"That's country music's homeland. If you've never been, you need to go," she says.
Next week, her band "Sherri's Jubilee" will share the Nashville stage with a young up-and-comer from Barre. Lamberton introduced her guest star Wednesday night.
"Right here out of Barre, Vermont she's 12 years old, here's Jesi Anderson," she told the crowd to applause.
And the two gave a preview of their performance.
Lamberton learned Jesi Anderson had some pipes-- but she also had persistence.
"A couple of years ago this little girl came up and said, 'I really want to learn to sing, I really want to sing with you,'" recalls Lamberton. "We started working together and we've been working together since she was 10 and this year she's going to Nashville."
"Well, I cried and I answered 'yes, of course.' So yes, I was very excited. It's going to be fun," says Anderson.
The pair will perform two shows and also record some music.
"It's huge. It's going to be fun," smiles Anderson.
Jesi and the band will be boarding the bus for Nashville next Saturday. It's a trip that would be tough for Jesi to make without Sherri and some generous sponsors.
"I'll feel like a superstar cause that's the only place superstars are," says Anderson.
And one day the name on the bus may be "Jesi's Jubilee."
"My goal is to take over the Jubilee," says Anderson.
