Italy to consider resetting of borders
    China National News
    Sunday 11th May, 2008

Italy's new interior minister says he wants to reimpose border controls for travellers from Europe's Schengen Zone.

Roberto Maroni says the borders would be a security measure against crime and illegal immigration.

The Schengen agreement, between 24 of the 27 EU-member states, allows travellers to cross national borders without checks.

The newly installed conservative government, led by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, will consider the proposals this week.

The move is primarily aimed at Romanian immigrants and Roma people from eastern Europe who are flooding in to Italy.

There are approximately half a million Romanians in Italy who entered Italy via other Schengen countries.

    like bees to honey.

What’d you expect. With a rich and generous prime minister always helping the people with generous handouts. It’s no wonder the immigrants are making a beeline for Italy.

Italy to consider resetting of borders

This is a step backwards, to isolate European countries from each other, it is natural that in open borders you do have the free flow of people from one country towards the other, and in this flow of immigrants you will always have a certain percentage of criminals moving from one country to another. If you go the the extreme of imposing controls and certain sanctions, you will create a state of isolationism, or protectionism, which will eventually will lead to racism. And I do believe that when you isolate a certain group of people and you despise their presense in your country, then you are going against the principles of the European community and its establishment, because you must accept the good and the bad, and you cannot be selective in accepting people into your country if you make part of the European community. If these people that come to your country are considered to be criminals, it is the job of the European’s police force to control them, but you cannot impose the selectivity of who can enter and who cannot, and at the same time be part of the European community. US Fear especially the politicians...

... , and fear the reaction of the US electorate kicking them out of their wonderful priviledged jobs, for the worldwide mess they have created. Loss of Jobs, Reprisal Attacks, Higher Costs, lead the parade of predictable effects of the Republican, Capitalist Profiteers, Democratic No Policy, Leadership decisions and implementations of war and greed! So it is easy to comprehend how the US is leading the parade for 'Closed Borders' via 'Homeland Security'!
